Western science is good at ramming into peoples head that “there is no cure for diabetes” or “there is no cure for cancer”.

And yet, we see miracles of people with terminal cancer completely being cured, self-healed (science admits to these, but slaps a label on this phenomena, “oh we have a name for it, it’s called spontaneous remission”, and thus dismisses them).

Unlike western science, Ayurveda (the branch of Hinduism that deals with the science of life) holds that every disease can be cured, essentially by triggering the bodies innate self-healing mechanism. This more than often involves a complete lifestyle change – ranging from diet, exercise, meditation, yoga, to environment change. Which for all practical reasons, to a Westerner is not really a “cure” because for him a cure is “quick pill”. One should realize that if a disease has reared its head it means it has taken several years for it to manifest by the time it shows up. Thus likewise if you want a permanent cure one should not expect it to be done overnight (unless one can really re-engage the innate healing process of the mind and body).

In the case of diabetes, the following are very powerful elements that can help activate the bodies self-healing ability. It is probably one of the many best kept secrets – or rather best hidden secrets (hidden by the media – which it gets its revenue from the billion dollar diabetes industry).

  • Bitter gourd (aka, bitter melon, pavaka)
  • Fenugreek (aka, methi, venthayam) – best if soaked overnight.

  • Pranayama
  • Switch to whole foods: parboiled rice instead of processed/white rice, raw sugar instead of processed, whole wheat instead of white, unrefined oil instead of refined/trans-fatted oils,…
