Thought Experiments
Just a few thoughts to obverse different levels of higher conscious at work in real life.
It can be easily demonstrated. In fact many experience it. Let’s say you’re trying to solve a stubborn mathematical problem that simply won’t budge. Then all of the sudden, when you are least thinking about it, when your mind is relaxed (not preoccupied by internal chatter, not being bombarded by external inputs like TV), like when your cooking, relaxing to music, taking a walk,… boom the answer comes to you out of the blue. In a flash of “inspiration” you see how it all connects together.
Or take a simpler case, let’s just say you’re trying to remember something, and you simply can’t. Then all of sudden, when you least expect it, you remember.
The point is, in either case, you weren’t actively thinking – the brain was not active. Had you put your head in an MRI scan it’d probably show not much cerebral activity — in contrast with it buzzing with activity when you were really thinking about the problem.
Essentially you “threw” the problem up into a higher level of consciousness, where the connection or missing link is easily made out, and then floats back down to your conscious level. Much like, if you want to solve a set of 2 equations of with 3 unknowns, you’d raise the dimension by adding a third equation.
It is this feat which yoga trains one to establish. By becoming closer to your true nature (as the Atman) not only do issues and problems in life become easier to solve or handle, but you become closer in harmony with the grand scheme of things.
